Roger Waters "The Wall Live"

Los músicos acompañantes de Waters en esta ocasión, probablemente la última gira que llevará a cabo según él mismo, serán gran parte de la banda que lo acompañó en su última gira The Dark Side of The Moon Live durante 2006 y 2007.
El 10 de julio de 2010, Roger Waters y David Gilmour interpretaron un conjunto de canciones en el marco de un evento benéfico realizado en Kiddington Hall de Oxfordshire, Gran Bretaña, con el objeto de juntar fondos en pro de la organización no lucrativa Hoping Foundation, siendo su primera reunión luego del Live 8 en el año 2005, después de dicho evento, Waters confirmó la posibilidad de tener a Gilmour como invitado en la interpretación de Comfortably Numb, dicha reunión se llevó a cabo en el O2 Arena de Londres, el 12 de mayo de 2011, además, sobre el final del show, en Outside the Wall, Waters presentó a Gilmour, y sorpresivamente a Nick Mason, para sumarse a la interpretación de la última canción. El sonido de los conciertos es considerado como el mejor que jamás se haya visto y la magnitud del espectáculo (que incluye marionetas, avión, fuegos artificiales) lo condecoran como quizá la mejor gira de todos los tiempos. 

A diferencia de sus giras anteriores, por primera vez no hay coristas femeninas, entre las que se destacaban Katie Kissoon, P.P. Arnold y Carol Kenyon.

Roger Waters "The Dark Side of the Moon Live"

Segundo de los cuatro discos emblemáticos de Pink Floyd interpretados por Roger Waters.
Pertenece a la gira mundial realizada por Waters, como expresión de su deseo de interpretar el mítico álbum Dark Side of the Moon. 
La Gira mundial tuvo una asistencia de 2,6 millones de personas aproximadamente, con un total de 119 shows que recorrió 35 países de Europa, Norteamérica, Latinoamérica, Asia y Oceania.
Siete músicos y tres coristas acompañan a Waters en el escenario. Además Nick Mason, miembro de Pink Floyd, estuvo a la batería en algunos de los conciertos.
Mark Fisher, como ya hiciera con la gira de Pink Floyd "The Wall", es el encargado del diseño del espectáculo, que cuenta con una serie de elementos que hacen del concierto un espectáculo de luz, imagen y por supuesto sonido. Pantalla gigante en el escenario, muñecos hinchables de un astronauta y del mítico cerdo del álbum Animals, y sonido cuadrafónico son algunos de estos elementos.

Roger Waters Madrid 24/5/2018

La propuesta artística del señor Waters resulta muy impactante, manda un mensaje a nuestro interior, toca la fibra y produce reacciones sorprendentes. Roger Waters, y, por defecto, Pink Floyd, es uno de esos pocos músicos que, desde la primera nota, nos llevan directamente a otras dimensiones. 
El setlist estuvo marcado como no por la discografía de Pink Floyd, solo cuatro temas de su último trabajo se envolvían en el aura Floydiana que arropaba el WiZink Center Madrileño. 
Proyecciones, cerdos volando, estructuras imposibles representando la portada de mi disco favorito ANIMALS y un sin fin de guiños a los políticos actuales, marcaron el devenir del concierto. Todo lo que esperábamos en el universo Waters fue surgiendo paulatinamente, sin darnos apenas cuenta que el tiempo corría en nuestra contra.
La actuación estuvo demasiado politizada para mi gusto. Si uno no está del todo de acuerdo con sus ideas políticas, debería saber cómo aparcarlas y disfrutar, no solamente de uno de los mejores espectáculos de la historia del rock, sino de algunos de los temas imperecederos de este género. Composiciones que seguirán existiendo mucho más allá de nuestras vidas.
Es la tercera vez que veo a Roger Waters y me temo que la última, los tres conciertos fueron increíbles, pero me quedo con THE WALL.

Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2018-05-21 Half Moon, Putney

Saucerful Of Secrets, el supergrupo que formó Nick Masonpara tocar material de los comienzos de Pink Floyd, ha anunciado su gira debut, que sigue al éxito de sus primeros cuatro shows en Londres de hace unos días.
El tour se realizará en septiembre e incluye, por el momento, fechas agendadas en toda Europa y en el Reino Unido.
Antes de su concierto debut, Mason aseguró que su grupo, liderado por Gary Kemp, de Spandau Ballet, no era un tributo: “No es importante tocar las canciones exactamente como estaban, sino capturar el espíritu”.

Mason notó que la labor de Kemp asumiendo el papel de Syd Barrett durante los años de formación de Pink Floyd es un poco diferente ahora: “Gary no está tomando el lugar de Syd. Tenía que ver con quién tenía entusiasmo, y Gary si. Espero que diferentes elementos atraigan a diferentes personas. Nuestra versión de ‘Bike’ es una de las cosas más difíciles que hemos abordado. Y cosas como  ‘Set The Controls For The Heart Of the Sun’ las incluímos solo porque es una de mis favoritas para tocar”.

Pink Floyd A Momentary Lapse of Reason "LIVE"

A Momentary Lapse of Reason, se grabó en varios estudios siendo el principal la casa flotante de Gilmour Astoria, adquirida por el propio Gilmour en el verano de 1986. El barco se encontraba amarrado en el río Támesis, lo cual (según Ezrin), finalmente "se impuso" en todas las canciones.​ "Trabajar allí fue mágico, tan inspirador, jóvenes bajando en piraguas por el río, gansos volando...".​ Contrataron a Andy Jackson (un colega del amigo de Floyd James Guthrie) para que se encargase de la ingeniería de sonido. En una serie de sesiones discontinuas entre noviembre de 1986 y febrero de 1987,​ la banda de músicos de Gilmour trabajó en nuevo material, que a diferencia de otros trabajos de Floyd se grabó en una máquina analógica de 24 pistas y se utilizó el método del overdubbing con una grabadora digital Mitsubishi de 32 pistas. Esta tendencia de usar nuevas tecnologías continuó con la utilización de sincronización MIDI, controlado con una computadora Apple Macintosh. 
Estando sentado en el dentista Manoli por entonces mi novia, ojeando una revista en la sala de espera me comenta como algo sin importancia, "anda mira Pink Floyd va a sacar un disco". No me lo podía creer, lei todo el reportaje y fue una alegría indescriptible aunque ya lei la movida de Waters y que Wright no estaba, pero daba igual Pink Floyd volvia. Aqui comparto este disco en directo, recopilatorio de varios conciertos. No hace falta ser el mejor para ser fundamental, es lo que pienso yo de este trabajo.

Pink Floyd 'Nassau Coliseum 1988' (4CD)

La decisión de hacer una gira de promoción para el álbum "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" se tomó antes incluso de que estuviese completo y los primeros ensayos fueron caóticos, Mason y Wright estaban desentrenados y al percatarse de que estaban intentando abarcar demasiado, Gilmour le pidió a Bob Ezrin que se hiciese cargo. Las cosas se complicaron incluso más cuando Waters contactó con varios promotores estadounidenses para amenazarles con demandas si se usaba el nombre de "Pink Floyd". Gilmour y Mason financiaron los costes iniciales (Mason usó su Ferrari 250 GTO como aval). Sin embargo, algunos promotores se sintieron ofendidos por las amenazas de Waters, hasta que finalmente se pusieron a la venta 60.000 entradas en Toronto que se vendieron en pocas horas.

El espectacular despliegue audiovisual de Roger, se centra sobre todo en una antología de los álbumes más aclamados de la legendaria banda británica, léase The dark side of the moon, Wish you were here, The wall o Animals. Es decir, una batería de composiciones no ya impresionantes sino arraigadas en el acervo cultural de varias generaciones. En esta ocasión, y a diferencia del pasado, también ha incorporado al setlist unas pocas composiciones propias recientes, sacadas de su álbum en solitario Is this the life we really want?, de densa denuncia política como Déjà vu o The last refugee.
Esta es la primera grabación del Tour Europeo. La lista de canciones es básicamente la misma de la primera parte del World Tour, pero un poco más corta.
Roger pasó una semana en Barcelona preparando el show y haciendo algunas apariciones en televisión y dando algunas conferencias. Jonathan Wilson también se tomó este tiempo libre para hacer alguna actuacion acustica en el Apolo.

Pink Floyd 'Animals From The Soundboard'

Las canciones del álbum se convirtieron en el objeto principal de la gira In the Flesh, que dio comienzo el mismo día del lanzamiento del álbum, en Dortmund. La gira continuó por Europa en febrero, por el Reino Unido en marzo y por Estados Unidos tres semanas entre abril y mayo, y entre junio y julio otras tres semanas. Algie se convirtió en la inspiración de mucha de la temática sobre cerdos utilizada en la gira. Un cerdo inflable se colgaba por encima del público, para después ser sustituido por una versión más barata que hacían explotar.

Pink Floyd Colmar 1974

Disc 1 (62:26) Introduction, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Raving And Drooling, Echoes

The success of Dark Side Of The Moon awarded Pink Floyd something they had not had for some time, the luxury of time. The band had been working non stop since 1968, releasing seven records coupled with a strong touring schedule gave little time for relaxation. With no solid plans following the last concert dates in November 1973, the band began to work on the Household Project, the premise being the ability to make music using common household items as musical instruments. David Gilmour would spend time working with singer songwriter Kate Bush during this time, and would produce Unicorn’s Blue Pine Trees record as well. Nick Mason would work with Robert Wyatt of Soft Machine fame, making a television appearance with him as well, miming a version of The Monkees’ I’m A Believer. Old habits die hard and the band found themselves working on some proper music much the way they had done Atom Heart Mother and Echoes, by putting pieces of music together with the result being two new songs, one long form suite that would eventually be bookend to their next vinyl opus.

By early 1974 the band had two new pieces fleshed out and in true Floydian fashion, they would schedule a series of dates to test the material in front of a live audience, a short five date tour of France in the summer of 1974 would allow the band to do so far from the British music papers. Scheduling the tour was somewhat of a hassle as the band’s massive sound system and brand new 40 foot high round screen that would serve as movie backdrop required tall ceilings and a huge amount of electricity. There are only two audio documents of this tour, Colmar and Paris, the former is the subject of this new release. For fans of this time frame in the Floyd’s history, these two concerts are essential pieces of the puzzle in hearing the gestation of one of the best, and most beloved, songs in the bands history.

Of the two recordings from this tour, Colmar is the best in terms of sound. The recording is credited to Paul V, who also shot 8mm film of the show that does not circulate. Paul made few copies of his master tape, thankfully one started making the rounds, a transfer he did in the 90’s shortly before his death. The master tape is believed to reside with his widow and no digital transfer has ever been made from it. At best the version used for this title would be a second generation tape. The recording easily falls into the good range, many consider it very good. It is a clear and detailed recording sounding like it was done fairly close to the stage. The audience around him is respectful and the atmosphere is well captured. The main issue with this recording is the tape speed issues with Dark Side, you can begin to hear it slowing down in Time. There has been a great deal of work done to this recording to best fix this issue, certainly the work of fans and not the bootleggers. There has been only one previous release, Shine On Paris (Highland HL559/560) is wrongly attributed to the Paris June 24 show but is indeed Colmar. This new title from SpeakEzy is a major upgrade to the Highland title. Louder, cleaner, and this new title does not have the extremely loud bass frequencies, certainly a much better version of the tape.

The recording begins with some brief tuning and then we are treated to the first known recording of what was then called Shine On. There are shouts of “assis…assis” or sit down, the piece begins quiet and somber with Rick Wright’s organ followed by David’s famous guitar phrase. The song originally was one long 20 minute piece with much of the song revolving around Gilmour and Wright’s improvisation, the drums and bass are just there to embellish the guitar and keyboards. The middle section features some fierce sparring between Gilmour and Wright, one could call it dueling seabirds, this is one of the most interesting and enjoyable playing on the whole song. After the final vocal portion, the latter part of the song is short and the band quietly fades the piece out.

Raving and Drooling is in its infancy, like Shine On, the skeletal structure is there yet it is not fleshed out. They seem to rely on the rhythmic nature of the song and is somewhat slow and pondering. About two thirds of the way through Gilmour gets into a really good solo and the pace quickens culminating into the slashing ending we all know and love. Gilmour and possibly Wright also do some interesting vocalization over the hammering sections that is really interesting as well, it provides an interesting variation to what we have come to know. The rest of the first set is made up of Echoes, typically great 74 version, thankfully the band had not yet employed the saxophone accompaniment.

The second half of the concert is the complete performance of Dark Side Of The Moon, it seems like the taper was not as relaxed. There are numerous small mic bumps, some sporadic drop outs and the speed issues. A great deal of work was done to adjust the tape to its proper pitch and the results are very good, making this portion of the tape listenable. The audience are polite, there is little response to the beginning of Speak To Me, it is only when the band break into Breathe that we hear applause. This is also the first tour to feature the large 40 foot screen with the visual movies that accompanied Dark Side, the need to stay in closer time seems to harness the bands natural improvisation skills. It is interesting to hear the audience reactions to the visuals, Time, Great Gig, Money, and Brain Damage all feature interesting gasps from the crowd. There is a huge ovation at Dark Side’s conclusion and chants for more and a bit of the band returning to the stage before the tape ends. The encore was reportedly Careful With That Axe, Eugene, sadly it was either not taped or does not circulate. This was the last performance of Careful until the May 9, 1977 performance.


The packaging is full color inserts that are packaged in a slim line jewel case. The cover is homage to the old Highland title. The inner tray has a picture of both event poster and ticket stub, the CD’s have pictures on them, pretty much what one would expect. The sound of this title is a major upgrade over the old Highland title, for the Floyd collector, this is an attractive title to own.
